Everyone tells you that there's a Heaven and a Hell when you die. What no one tells you is that Hell isn't full of flames and demons. For Mike Reese his Hell is reliving the death of his family over and over again. After being accused for their murders and sentenced to death, Mike must now live out his afterlife reliving that day as punishment. The only problem is, he wasn't the killer....

Barnes and Noble: http://bit.ly/1GL24iC

First off let me just say that this type of book is totally out of the norm for me but I thought 'hey I need something different' so I turned the page. I am thankful that I did. This story has a different spin of the 'afterlife' and heaven and hell. The story is laid out well and keeps you interested. There were times that my heart went out to Mike and all he went through in the here and now and in the afterlife. Even though the book isn't graphic in the slayings it still tore at my heart, so if you can't handle 'death' this book isn't for you because the first couple chapters are the hardest to get through as they lay the way for Mike's sentencing in the afterlife. And I truly hope that I don't meet Ron if the afterlife truly is this way lol. Either you will continue to turn the pages or you will just put the book down and walk away, thus the four star review. Beery did a great job spinning her tale and I am glad I chose to pick her book up! It's a good read but be ready!!

excerpt

A short time later, a noise in the living room woke me up. I had to blink a few times before I could fully open my eyes but as they opened, I could make out a silhouette standing in the corner of the room. It appeared to be a man, fully dressed in black. “Nate,” I called out, hoping it was him. There was no answer, and his powerful stare seemed to drain my will power.

A cold air rushed through my body just seconds before it went numb. The figure began walking slowly towards me and, had I not known better, I would almost think that he was floating—something like they do in those creepy horror movies.

Please, get it together, Leona. Focus on moving your body and get ready to run.

My phone rang then, and I wanted to pick it up so badly that I could imagine myself doing it. But as much as I tried to, I still couldn’t move anything but my eyes. The closer he got to me, the more desperate I became to get my body to move. I couldn’t take it anymore and I sure as hell wasn’t going to sit by and watch him attack me, so I closed my eyes and started praying that he would just get it over with already. Breaking eye contact did wonders. I could feel my muscles relaxing and a few seconds later, I didn’t feel as drawn to him anymore; I could finally move.

I was just about to make my grand escape when my phone started ringing again and this time, I could turn to see Nathaniel’s name on the Caller ID. I was so glad! I avoided eye contact with whoever was coming my way and answered quickly. “Na-Nate there’s someone in the house with me–” was all I could manage before said person grabbed a hold of me and knocked the phone right out of my hand.

“Be still,” his creepy voice mocked me while I attempted to free myself from his tight grip.

Next thing I heard was the sound of the front door breaking down. Nathaniel burst into the room with his Glock in extended hands. “Let go of her, you son of a bitch!”

Alexandra walked into the living room right after him with a baseball bat in her hand. “What the hell is going on in here?” Her eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw me in the stranger’s clutches. “Let go of her!” she yelled angrily as she took a step towards the man.

The coward took advantage of the situation by pushing me into Nate’s arms and disappeared into the darkness. Alex didn’t waste any time and tried to rush after him, only to be stopped by Nate. “No Alexandra, stay with Leona, and the two of you go check on Alyssa for me.”

Nate was fuming all the way over to Alyssa’s bedroom. “Did he hurt you? Did he touch you? Did you see his face?” I’d never seen him so angry, the man was literally shaking with fury as he told me: “Stay here, okay … I’m gonna go and check out the house.”

I shook my head. “No! Are you crazy? I am not going to leave you out here alone, Nate.”

But it wasn’t up for debate. “I’m serious, Leona, even if you hear anything don’t come out, okay? Please, promise me that you won’t try to interfere; I need you and the girls safe.”

I reluctantly promised him and proceed to knock on Aly’s door … there was no answer. Not wanting to wait for an invitation, I walked in and turned on the lights, and as I did so, the scene in front of me made my heart turn to ice. Alyssa was sound asleep, but there was someone in the room with her. He was standing beside her and was touching and smelling her. He turned his face to look at me and dropped his hand to his side. It was him. Still wrapped up in black clothes and some kind of mask on his face that only showed his eyes and his mouth. He started walking towards me with a creepy grin and the way he did it made my skin crawl.

I screamed. I screamed so loud that my own ears began to whistle. Alyssa woke up in a haze and started screaming alongside me when she saw him. The man stopped in his tracks, turned back around and quickly put one hand around Aly’s neck and the other over her nose and her mouth to stop her from screaming her lungs out.

Alexandra snapped out of her shock and lunged at him with the bat. He ducked and it went straight over his head. Her surprise attack knocked him off balance and he let go of Alyssa before he hit the floor. Before he had the chance to stand up, I jumped on him from behind and started pummeling him with my fists. But he was too big and in seconds, he’d flipped me over and had me pinned.

Alexandra sneaked up on him again, but he sensed the move and yanked the bat from her grip. Screaming, he took a swing at her and cracked her right on the knee with it. She stifled her grimace and pulled a kitchen knife from her back pocket and brandished it in the air. “Let go of her, you bastard!” she yelled.

The intruder smiled and tightened his grip on me. This infuriated Alex even more and she ran at him with the blade. Unable to keep hold of the bat and me, without getting stabbed, he let go of us both and tripped Alex with his foot, causing her to stumble. He took advantage of her fall and grabbed her by both wrists. She tried to struggle out of his grip, but he stole her protection and held the blade against her throat. As he pushed the metal against her skin, Nate appeared with his Glock on the side of the stranger’s head.

“Drop the knife and step away from her. Now!” he ordered.

My first romance suspense! Felida created a PYT (pretty young thing) in Nate, a young and sexy law enforcer. The heroine Leona goes on such a ride with suspenseful twists and turns, never leaving a dull moment in the journey. The chemistry between Nate and Leona is steamy. The best thing about this book is the way Felida weaves in multicultural characters. You see a little bit of every culture and race. I love it! My best to S.E.! ~ 5 Stars, Love Belvin

S.E Felida Incredible Dreams was “Absolutely Astounding”. It was like watching a movie unfold capturing every scene perfectly. From the amazing plot, to the impressive imagery and visualizations throughout the story “Simply Brilliant”. Incredible Dreams weaves together a mysterious storyline and addresses Leona’s childhood struggles, which leads to her mistrust in men. Meeting Nathaniel the man of her dreams, Leona is instantly enthralled. Nathaniel is the epitome of a soul mate; he is compassionate, sexy, strong and has a beautiful soul. Leona is beautiful, sweet, caring, and loves with her whole heart. The main couple share this intense connection that is beyond words, their souls are connected. You feel their love for each other despite their past and the pain they endured. Leona’s love is an addiction to Nathaniel in its rarest form; their love is completely consuming mind, body and soul. Every character in this story is haunted by their past in some way shape or form, they all have scars that they try to conceal emotionally. Leona, Alyssa, Alexandra and Naomi are true soul sisters that are determined to get through life with each other’s support. Their bond is truly amazing and relatable. Incredible Dreams is romantic, sexy, suspenseful, and highly emotional. It is a story that signifies that we all get second chances at loving and living. S.E Felida, I am beyond speechless how you captured each emotion effortlessly pain, heartache, tragedy, abuse, family friendship and love and turned it into one of the most beautiful stories I have read. Omg the ending off the story took me by surprise, I think I had a mini heart attack but I loved every minute off it. Perfection. Cannot wait to read Book Two Irrational Behavior. ~ 5 Stars, Stracey Charran Ishwar

 Author Bio

For as long as I can remember, I've loved to write, poetry, short stories just about anything. My English teachers in school kept telling me I should write and it took me a lot of years to finally get around to it.

I spent too long worrying about failing as a writer before I realized that living with the regret of never trying was worse.

I live in a sleepy country town in Tasmania, Australia with my partner and our three children, who aren't so little anymore, plus a whole assortment of animals.

Natasha's Awakening is my first book but I have no intention of stopping now and will continue to live my dream of being a published author. I have just published Taming Eric which is his POV to Natasha's Awakening.

My interests are writing of course, reading, watching movies and hanging out at home with my family, our six cats and one dog.

Fifteen minutes later, a rap on her door startled her. “Who is it?” “Liam.” The sound of his voice added a spring to her step. She smoothed her hair before opening. “Why aren’t you downstairs enjoying your win?”

“I missed you. I want to be with you, Luce, no one else.” Her heart thundered in her ears. “But people expect you to stay. Won’t they be upset?”

“That’s my Luce. Okay, listen for a second.” He held up a finger. “What did you hear?”
“Music. Voices. Laughter.”
“I’ll tell you.” He took her hands. “Lucy Watson, when I lost you, I lost my guide, my conscience, my—”
“Exactly. The party goes on without me.” “I’m not sure how to take that, Liam.”
His words triggered feelings she couldn’t hide or control. She kissed him with a hunger that had been lurking deep inside. For a moment, she forgot worries and fears. Then she moved away from him. Hadn’t she been the one discouraging their relationship? Her cheeks burned.
His hand came around her waist, and the familiar glint lit his eyes. “I want us to spend tonight together.” He searched her face. Hope whirled and rose higher. “What do you say, Luce?” His voice was low, husky. “One night?” Her last chance with him was now. “Yes.” He smiled, bent to kiss her, and stepped back. “Hold on.” He walked to the window.
What was he doing? He’d changed his mind? Already? “I thought…”

A new dark romance novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Wanderlust and Prisoner…

My conditioning runs too deep. Ivan sees what I am.

That’s the thing about showing a mouse to a cat. He wants to play. And it’s terrifying, even for me. Because the only thing darker than my past is his.

excerpt

So far a city looks exactly how I thought it would—gutted buildings and dark alleys.

A den of wickedness.

This morning I woke up on my floor mat in Harmony Hills. Sunlight streamed through the window while dust rose up to meet it. The white walls somehow kept their color despite rough dirt floors.

A desperate trek through the woods and a series of bus rides later, I made it to a city. This city. Tanglewood. It could have been anywhere. They’re all the same, all sinful, all scary—and the only thing that makes this one special is that I ran out of money for bus tickets.

My shoes are made of white canvas, already fraying and black from the grime of the streets. I made these shoes by hand when I turned twelve, and the heel on the left side has never fit quite right. But the bamboo soles lasted for years in the hills. Now they’re cracking against concrete. I can feel every lump in the pavement, every loose rock, every rounded hump as the sidewalk turns to cobblestone and then back again.

That’s not the worst part.

There’s someone following me. Maybe more than one person. I try to listen for the footsteps, but it’s hard to hear over the pounding in my ears, the thud of my heart against my chest. Panic is a tangible force in my head, a gritty quicksand that threatens to pull me down.

I could end up on my knees before this night is over.

But I don’t think I’ll be saying my evening prayers.

Men are standing outside a gate that hangs open on its hinges. They fall silent as I walk close. I tighten my arms where they are folded over my chest and look down. If I can’t see them, they can’t see me. It wasn’t true when I was little, and it’s not true now.

One of them steps in front of me.

My breath catches, and I stop walking. My whole body is trembling by the time I meet his eyes, bloodshot red in a shadowed face. “What’s your name?” he asks in a gravelly voice.

I jerk my head. No.

“Now that’s not very polite, is it?” Another one steps closer, and then I smell him. They couldn’t have showered in the past day or even week.

Cleanliness is a virtue.

Being quiet and obedient and small is a virtue too. “I’m sorry. I just want to—”

I don’t know what comes next. I want to run. I want to hide. I want to pretend the past sixteen years as a disciple of the Harmony Hills never happened. None of that is possible when I’m surrounded by men. I take a step back and bump into another man. Hands close around my arms.

A sound escapes me—fear and protest. It’s more than I would have done this morning, that sound.

I’m turned to face the man behind me. He smiles a broken-toothed smile. “Doesn’t matter what you want, darling.”

My mouth opens, but I can’t scream. I can’t scream because I’ve been taught not to. Because I know no one will come. Because the consequences of crying are worse than what will happen next.

Then the man’s eyes widen in something like fear. It’s a foreign expression on his face. It doesn’t belong. I wouldn’t even believe it except he takes a step back.

My chest squeezes tight. What’s behind me? Who is behind me that could have inspired that kind of fear? The men surrounding me are monsters, but they’re backing off now, stepping away, hands up in surrender. No harm done, that’s what they’re saying without words.

I whirl and almost slip on a loose cobblestone.

The man standing in front of me is completely still. That’s the first thing I notice about him—before I see the fine cut of his black suit or the glint of a silver watch under his cuff. Before I see the expression on his face, devoid of compassion or emotion. Devoid of humanity.

“We didn’t know she worked for you,” one of the men mumbles.

They’re still backing up, forming a circle around us, growing wider. I’m in the middle. I’m the drop, and the men around me form a ripple. Then they fade into the blackness and are gone.

It’s just me and the man in the suit.

He hasn’t spoken. I’m not sure he’s going to. I half expect him to pull out a gun from somewhere underneath that smooth black fabric and shoot me. That’s what happens in the city, isn’t it? That’s what everyone told me about the outside world, how dangerous it is. And even while some part of me had nodded along, had believed them, another part of me had refused.

There had to be beauty outside the white stucco walls. Beauty that wasn’t contained and controlled. Beauty with color. Only apparently I was wrong. I haven’t seen anything beautiful—except him.

He’s beautiful in a strange and sinful way, one that makes me more afraid. Not colorful exactly. His eyes are a gray color I’ve never seen before, both deep and opaque at the same time. The building itself is beautiful too with its wrought iron gate around a large courtyard. The fountain in the center is broken, but that only adds to the mystique.

The marquee sign reads Grand, a flash of neon pink against the black night.

He steps closer, the light from the sign illuminating his face, making him look even more sinister. “What’s your name?”

I couldn’t answer those other men, but I find something inside for him. I find truth. “I’m not allowed to say my name to someone else.”

He studies me for a long moment, taking in my tangled hair and my white dress. “Why not?”

Because God will punish me. “Because I’m running away.”

He nods like this is what he expected. “Do you have money?”

I have twenty dollars left after bus fare. “Enough.”

His lips twist, and I wonder if that’s what a smile looks like on him. It’s terrifying. “No, you don’t,” he says. “The question is, what would you do to earn some?”

Anything.

My voice is just a whisper. “I’m a good girl.”

He laughs, and I see that I was wrong before. That wasn’t a smile. It was a taunt. A challenge. This is a real smile, one with teeth. The sound rolls through me like a coming storm, deep and foreboding.

“I know,” he says gently. “What’s your name?”

“Candace.”

He studies me. “Pretty name.”

His voice is deep with promise and something else I can’t decipher. All I know is he isn’t really talking about my name. And I know it isn’t really a compliment. “Thank you.”

“Now come inside, Candace.”

He turns and walks away before I can answer. I can feel the night closing in on me, the sharks in the water waiting to strike. It’s not really a choice. I think the man knows that. He’s counting on it. Whatever is going to happen inside will be bad, and the only thing worse is what would have happened outside.

I hurry to catch up with him, almost running across the crumbled driveway, under the marquee sign for the Grand, past the broken fountain, desperate for the dubious safety of the man who could hold the darkness at bay. It’s the same thing that kept me in Harmony Hills for so long—fear and twisted gratitude.
