With a quick nod, Jane hurried back to the alcove outside Lincoln’s office. She set her coffee on the desk then moved quickly toward the open doorway. She’d barely had one foot over the threshold, when a hard body slammed into hers. Stumbling backward, Jane felt herself falling before strong arms wrapped around her waist. In a quick move, Lincoln turned them so they were braced against the wall that served as a break between the main administration area and the desk.

Caught between a solidly built male body and the wall, heat streaked its way through her blood as she breathed in his clean, outdoor scent. The frantic beat of her heart pounded loudly in her ears as she remained frozen against him. When he didn’t move right away, her breathing grew ragged.

“You okay?” The husky note in his voice sent a frisson dancing across her skin as she looked up into a pair of silvery-blue eyes. Every part of her was alive with sensation.

“Yes, I’m sorry—”

“Nothing to be sorry about. I shouldn’t have come barreling out of the office like that. I’m just glad you didn’t end up on the floor.”

When he didn’t, move, Jane’s heartbeat increased its pace like an out-of-control train heading for derailment. Something fiery flashed in his gaze as she wet her dry lips. The heat scraping across her senses left her feeling raw and exposed in a way that wasn’t unpleasant, but it was definitely unsettling. Her breathing became ragged as his head dropped slightly.

Oh God, he was going to kiss her. The moment the thought penetrated her consciousness, she instantly knew she wanted him to. Anticipation flooded her body as she drew in a sharp breath. A moment later her body screamed its objection as Lincoln pushed himself away from her until they were an arm’s length apart. The instant his heat left her body, Jane found herself wishing he hadn’t moved.

February Reading Challenge Update

I am having my own personal reading challenge.  I will update at the end of each month or beginning of the following month.
I am so behind on posting this and behind on  my reading.  I read only 3 books in Febraury!!!!  So that is 6 so far this year.

I have set my goal on Goodreads.  At the moment my goal is only 90 books for the year.  Last year, I only read 82 books, and my goal was at least 100 (I think,I've already forgotten) So, if I see I am reading a bit more, I can up my goal.

I do have so many books on my TBR list, so I am going to try to read more of my older books.  I am still taking SOME ARC books, but not many.  I really need to get through the older ones.

Someone is ringing my fucking doorbell. I was at the hospital until the wee hours, I was finally in a deep, lovely sleep, and someone is ringing the bell.
All I know for sure is, this had better not be the damn door-to-door people trying to sell me a vacuum. Or a magazine. Or Jesus.
I wrap my robe around me, stumbling toward the door. I pull it open and am surprised to find an excited Sadie and a ridiculously sexy Brad standing at my door.
“Is that coffee?” I ask.
“For you,” he confirms and holds it out to me.
“Come to mama,” I mutter and take it from his hand, taking a grateful sip. Sadie brushes past my leg, into the house, and curls up on my couch.
“She’s not supposed to be on the furniture,” Brad says.
“My house, my rules,” I reply and take another sip of the one thing in this world I’m addicted to, and give him a once over from head to toe. “You look like you got about as much sleep as I did.”
“Rough night?” he asks without confirming or denying.
“Babies,” I reply with a shrug. “You?”
He just shrugs. “Are you going to ask me in?”
“Sure.” I back up and gesture him into the room. “Sorry, I was sleeping pretty good. My energy level is about equal to a sloth on Xanax.”
“I can leave and let you go back to bed.”
His eyes roam up and down my body, reminding me that I’m just in a robe and nothing else. His green eyes are hot, and every muscle in his body is tight.
Even sleep deprived, I can tell when a man is in the mood.
“You’ve brought me coffee. I’ll never kick you out when you’ve done that.”
“I’ll remember that,” he says with a chuckle.
“Besides, I have plenty of room.” I turn and walk into my bedroom, glancing behind me to see that he’s following me. He makes a hand gesture at Sadie, which I assume means stay. “We can take a nap,” I suggest.
His lips twitch, but he doesn’t say anything when he joins me next to the bed. He takes my coffee and sets both of our cups on the bedside table.
“Is that what you want, Hannah?” he murmurs and skims his fingertips down my arms.
“Eventually.”
Meet Kristen:
Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.
During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. I live in a small town in Northern Michigan…where it is cold – a lot! And since I’m not into snowshoes, snowmobiles, skiing, or snowboarding, I have a lot of time to write. Most things can spark my imagination although I suffer from a major case of ‘shiny object’ distraction.

When I’m not writing, I’m either taking pictures or reading. My other hobbies include cooking, crocheting and card marking. My addictions are diet coke and M&M’s. An ideal day would have uninterrupted writing then I’d make a batch of M&M cookies to nibble on while reading and I’d never have to take off my slippers – which are donkey from Shrek.
