Review: Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole

465 Pages
 Published January 30th 2014 (first published January 28th 2014)

You met Romeo Prince in the Amazon & USA Today bestselling novel, Sweet Home. Now hear the story from his lips: unbarred, uncensored and raw to the bone.

It makes me laugh when I hear that folk think Mol and I rushed into it too fast, spouting that we couldn't possibly have felt what we did for each other in such a short space of time. I say, how the hell would they know? We made it, didn't we? She became my whole life, didn't she? And as for my folks not being real, being true? Tell that to me aged ten, eleven, twelve — damn, all my bastard life — when I was never enough, when I was beaten until I bled for being too good at football and not being everything they'd dreamed: the perfectly dutiful son. Tell that to thousands of kids around the world getting wailed on by asshole parents for whatever stupid reason; tell them that evil don't exist in their eyes.

Fuck Romeo and Juliet: this is the story of me and my girl, from my lips. No mushy sentiment, no cheese, just the plain, hard truth, and, because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you in on more of our story too.

Sweet Rome is a New Adult Companion Novel to Sweet Home — contains adult content, sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

This is my 5 snowflake review for Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole for Eskimo Princess Book Blog.

Sweet Rome is a complete novel from the main character, Romeo Prince’s POV. Romeo is the star quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He is known as Bullet to the fans and Rome to his friends. He is the son of a wealthy oil tycoon and seems to have to perfect life. However, not everything in Romeo’s life is perfect. His parents are monsters, girls want the magnificent Bullet, and no one sees the real Romeo. He doesn’t let anyone in, ever. He is such a broken soul; I just wanted to reach through my Kindle and squeeze him tight. Will he be able to make it through everything with his heart and soul intact? Will Romeo be able to hold it together for the one girl he can’t live without?

Molly is a British transfer student at UA from Oxford in England. She keeps to herself and tries to fly under everyone’s radar. She just wants to get into a PhD program and become a professor. Her plans are going great until she meets the one and only Romeo Prince, king of the Crimson Tide. Will she be able to resist Romeo and his pushy ways? Will she live Happily Ever after with her Romeo?

If you loved Romeo in Sweet Home, then you will fall even harder in Sweet Rome. My emotions were all over the place reading this one. I laughed, cried, and feel hopelessly deeper for a certain dominating quarterback. The book was well written and I can say that it didn’t feel like I was just rereading Sweet Home all over again. I believe that it gives us so much more backstory on our broken prince. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. It will have a place of honor on my Favorites shelf. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to read about hot controlling alpha males that have a broken side just waiting to be healed.
