Interview with Layla Stevens!

Today we have an interview with Layla Stevens!

I want to thank Layla for taking the time to sit down and answer some questions for us.  Its great to get to know the authors a little better.

What is your favorite color? My favorite color is Hot pink. I have a mad love different shades of Pink but Hot pink will always have a special place in my heart. And yes, I know that is a typical girl answer but, I like to stand out. I want to be seen. I also love Neon Orange. So basically anything bright. That says hey, I'm here look at me. (I love Hot Pink too!! My youngest daughter has her bedroom painted Orange)
What was the influence for "Loving Claire"?  Actually this series came from my Co-Author Rhonda Ruether. She asked me if I wanted to Co-Author some books with her, and I was like hell yes. So Dana, and Claire were born. Now we are about to release the last book in the series. And let me tell you this series has been an emotional roller coaster. Book one is called Claiming Claire, Book two is called Loving Claire and the last book in the trilogy is called Leaving Claire. Let's just say
We have a warning in all of our books that says "Layla Stevens & Rhonda Reuther are not responsible for broken E-readers, Kindles, Nooks, and or Phones due to you throwing them" Just because I don’t want to get a message telling me that I owe for a kindle.  But the main influence I think came from she wanted something different and well this series is different. But I won't tell you anything you have to read them to know what it's about.
What made you decide to become an author? Well, It kinda chose me, I was going through chemo and I needed something to occupy my time. Because I had read over a 1000 books and I was tired of reading. So I was like I can do this. Well, I talked to my aunt who loved to read. But the funny thing is she was blind, so people had to read to her, but she was not always blind so when she could see, she would read all the time. And her dream was always to be an author. So I called her and told her what I was going to do. After her tears of course she was all excited. So I sat down and started writing. And I wrote my first book, all while I was going through chemo. My first book is called Broken Love & Forever Bound, and it nearly broke me to write it. But I did it. And when I finished my aunt got the first copy. She was my biggest fan. She has since passed away, and so now I have written 8 books and have actually been part of several anthologies and several boxed sets. And everyone one I talk to her as I'm writing, I know it sounds crazy and hell maybe I am. But that is okay.
What is your favorite animal? I'm a dog lover. I have 4 chihuahua's and one mixed dog but she is the most loyal. They are all spoiled
What is your favorite snack, while writing? I love frosted animal cookies. I hate chocolate. And I don’t drink soda, or pop depending where in the world you live. Here lately I have been on a lemonade kick and I love Koolaid. I love Lemonade too!
What is your favorite scene from Loving Claire? There is no way I can pick just one, I love how this book gets you ready for book three. So make sure you read Claiming Claire, Then Loving Claire and last Leaving Claire
Do your family/friends know you write and have they read your books? Yes, all of my family knows that I write. I am not a shy person. I have told them. They all know that I write what my grandma calls book porn. He he I love it.. (my mother-in-law calls what I read "that smutty junk)
Tell us 5 interesting facts most readers wouldn’t know about you. Oh wow, 5 things.
I hate chocolate. I wear flip flops all year around, Some of the Claire stories are based on real life things, I'm scared to death of frogs, and I have a mad crush on my Co- Author.

I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1996. I have a huge family who I shocked them when I told them I was writing my first book. I have had a love a reading since I was young. Reading has always been my escape. I can read and be a princess or a warrior. Reading for me was always something magical. And I hope to pass that on to you all.

I am blessed to be the mom of a little girl named Sage who is the light of my life. {I call her Olga, and she hates it} I did not give birth to her but I choose her.

I am blessed with great friends who have always had my back. I have a lot to learn in this world of writing but, so far I am enjoying the ride. I have a fantastic Four that are my true loves. No names will be mentioned as they know who they are. I Love you all very much. {I didn't included alters in that comment}.

I'm very opinionated and have no filter. I speak my mind without thinking of the consequences. Does this get me in Trouble? Yes it does every single day. But I will not change. I march to my own beat. My mom says that I can be a one man band.
I am always willing to help out anyone who is in need all you have to do is ask. I never knew that writing a book would show me so much about myself. I have learned so much in a short amount of time. And I can't wait to learn more.

This past year has truly blessed me in so many ways. I was nominated on several blogs for best LBGT author, and guess what? I won on Coast to Coast Book Besties. Needless to say I'm over the moon excited because I'm firm believer in Equal Rights. So in my books you will find a little bit of everything. I'm not ashamed to step out of the normal cookie cutter box. I like to push the limits, and I love to be different.
