Review: Wyrmling by Ariel Ceylan

Book Description

Dragons aren't real, or at least that's what Yukio thought until she met one who placed an enchanted bracelet on her that could only be removed in another world, Kineta. The dragon dropped Yukio off outside the gates of Lumene, a city of smiles and lies. She is forced to lie about her identity since no one believes her when she says she's never heard of Kineta. During her stay in the city, she finds herself learning secrets about the Prince of Lumene who is trying to reclaim his throne from the usurper, the Leader of the Lumenian Faction. The usurper so happens to be the only person in the city Yukio feels comfortable with to tell the truth and maybe even love. She is told that her arrival marks the return of the Esau, the great beasts of Lumene that were banished in the empire. Everyone expects her to do something great. How does skin turning into scales sound? Yukio is changing into something she's not sure of what she will become. She needs to take the bracelet off, but if she slips into the middle of the night, will she start a war within the city walls?

My Review

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.  But I HONESTLY couldn't finish reading this extremely strange book.  I very rarely put a book in my DNF shelf.  I believe this is really the first one. ( I always try to finish a book)   I made it to page 45, and I had to give up.
This is supposed to be fantasy, so I know things could be weird, but this was beyond weird to the point of stupid.  The writing style was bad as well.
Yukio is a college student looking for her dad, but throughout the parts I read when I author would talk about Yukio doing something she would say  "the college student did this" or "the college student did that".
I do like description on things in my books, but this author went overboard in describing things.  She describes Yukio's roommate, who at this point was only really seen for like 5 seconds so it was pointless.
Okay, I will stop rambling about how bad it was.

Review: Dangerous Ally by Michelle Grey

Book Description:

Lacey Jordan is expecting dinner, and hopefully, an engagement announcement. Not her own, of course. After two serious screw-ups, she’s all but sworn off relationships. When she arrives at her father’s house to celebrate his future happiness though, he’s nowhere to be found.
As the hours pass, the worst scenarios Lacey’s mind can conjure send her rushing into action. However, reality proves even more frightening as she discovers that her father’s recent scientific breakthrough is one that people would kill for. To make matters worse, the source of the information is the one person she’d hoped to never see again.
Caleb Mansfield, her father’s former protege and her former lover, needs Lacey’s cooperation, and the very trust he’d stolen years before. But Lacey can’t be certain if Caleb’s working with her or against her.
Running out of time, she has nowhere else to turn. As the trail leading to her father narrows, Lacey becomes a target, risking her life to save him. Too late, she understands that with Caleb back in her life, she’s risking her heart as well.

My Review

I was given this e-book in exchange for an honest review.   The story is about Lacy and Caleb falling in love during the trying time of finding her father after he was kidnapped.  The story is not super suspenseful, yes, it has the suspense of trying to find Bill, Lacy's dad.  But a lot of the story is about Lacy and Caleb, with things thrown in about her dad's disappearance.  Lacy and Caleb had a heavy summer romance a few years ago, so when they meet again you can feel the chemistry.  Throughout the story I did feel Lacy's heartache over her dad and her past-which was really holding her back with Caleb.

Book Description:

And sure, David’s hiding a motive larger than either him or Kim. But the second his hands touch her smooth skin, he just doesn’t care anymore.
Kim’s been so focused on the loss of her sports career that she’s had no time for romance or sex. But her response to David can’t be denied. Is it just that her body’s been missing out, or could her heart be involved too?

Kathy Lyons Bio (aka Jade Lee):

A USA Today Bestseller, JADE LEE has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. And as a Taurus, she lives to pit a headstrong woman against a tortured hero just to watch them butt heads on the way to true love. Flesh wounds are rare, but the healing and laughter are real.
Now an author of more than 30 romance novels, she finally gets to set these couples in the best girl-heaven of all: a Bridal Salon! This way she gets to live out all her wedding fantasies, one by one. (Let’s be honest, what girl has only one idea for her dream wedding?)
And don’t forget Jade’s other name, KATHY LYONS. That’s Jade’s lighter, contemporary side she’s writing for Entangled Publishing and what
Dream Nights is all about!  For more on Kathy visit her on her website, Facebook, or Twitter.

Daily Update

I know, I have been slacking here on the blog but our Facebook page is always rocking.  I also post contest from other sites on Twitter.

This is what is happening now:

* I am currently reading Dangerous Ally by Michelle Grey, review should be up by the weekend.
* Next up is Wyrmling by Ariel Ceylan ( I think this book is only available on Smashwords right now)
* Bought, Borrowed and Bagged post #11 ( I forgot to post this last week!)

Quite honestly, I have not been reading much and I know I need to kick it up a notch~but I think I might be burnt out.  Somehow though my kindle is always dying, maybe it has something to do with my little one stealing it and playing games.  :)

I decided to share with you some of the prizes I have won in the last year.  Here is a photo of just the autographed books I have won since Spring of '12!  (Two books are missing~one stolen and one lost)

And here is all the actual books I have on my TBR shelves, one shelf is doubled up and yes that is two tote bags full!
And I have a triple boat load of books on my kindle that I need to read!

Kindle Books

So I have noticed that I have an extreme amount of books on my kindle, both from Amazon and from other sites.  I know that there are at least 180 books downloaded to my kindle.  I know that there are some on there that I will probably never read such as:
      - How to Be Sexy (52 Brilliant ideas)
     - The Scarlet Letter    ( I read this in High School)
     -  Let Your Goddess Grow
     -  The Book of Rules
      - Fifty Shades Shadier  ( I haven't even read 50 shades yet!!!)
      - The Sayings Of Confucius
     - The Truth of Managing Effectively
I am wondering why I one-clicked these titles but I know its because they were FREE!! I can't pass up a Free book that I might read!   OF course out of the 180 books there are also books on the kindle for me to read to my little girl.

Do you just one-click a book because its free, or do you only one-click on books you actually want to read?  How often do you one-click?  I have tried very hard lately to contain myself unless its something I know I will get around to reading.   I haven't had to "buy" many books lately,  I have been lucky enough to win books or been given books to review.

I better get back to reading, so I can get some reviews for you!!  Have a wonderful week.

Review: ARC of Revealing Us by Lisa Renee Jones

Series: Inside Out (#3)
Format: PDF
Release Date: September 10th 2013
Publisher: Gallery Books
Genre: New Adult

The third installment in the sexy Inside Out erotic romance series—in the seductive tradition of Fifty Shades of Grey.

You've discovered Rebecca's secrets. You've discovered Sara's secrets. Now Sara will discover "his" deepest, darkest secrets...but will those secrets bind them together--or tear them apart?

My Review:

I was given this book by the author for an honest review. Thank you Lisa Renee Jones for the opportunity to read this.
Let me start by saying that I have not read any other books in the series, and I was okay with this book. I probably should have read the others to know a little more back story, but I got along just fine.
This book does contain BDSM in discussions and mildly in the actual story.
Great story on the relationship of Chris and Sara. But at times I felt she was leaning on Chris a little too much. And at other times, it was a healthy dependency on Chris.
In this book, they are still investing the disappearance of Ella.
Sara is learning about Chris' past, but not all of it and not much at a time.
Sara is meek and does NOT speak up when she should. I am not a fan of Sara's. Even when she should have gotten mad, she got drunk and stayed in a very bad place.
overall pretty decent book

Review: Supernatural Seduction by Aneesa Price

Published: July 18th 2013
original title:     Supernatural Seduction (Book 2 of the Coffin Girls Series)
ASIN:    B00E1LF496
edition language:      English

Book Description:

This is an adult paranormal romance and contains scenes of explicit sex, violence and strong language.
Witch-vampire, Sophie, has the power to feel and influence others’ emotions. With the establishment of the Coffin Girls as warriors for the Goddess that kick supernatural ass, the effects of her empath abilities threaten to harm her. Sylvain, the mischievous and seductive fae prince and Coffin Girls ally, offers her the assistance of the fae to hone her powers. Sophie is drawn to Sylvain, which unnerves her as her hope for love has only ever led to devastation. The two of them must face the demons of their past, unknown enemies and new evil to find true happiness at last.

My Review:

This book more than rocked! Mrs. Price keeps you enthralled throughout the entire book. But you really should read book one before you read this one, just saying.
The Coffin Girls are ladies who are known for kicking ass, and you will not be disappointed.
I was thrilled to get Sophie's story. I love knowing more about each girl's history and how they grow through the story. And Sophie really did grow, stronger and emotionally. Her relationship with Sylvain was so hot and physical. When I got closer and closer to the end, I was sad- cause I knew it would soon be over and I would have to wait for more.
I did NOT however like the cliffhanger at the end.
This awesome book has: fighting (kick ass), magic, witches, vampires, fairies, and romance.
At a couple scenes I was WTF, no way! that is not right. But it was okay, it all was fine. But it totally freaked me out, and that is another thing that just makes this book so totally awesome.
I am eagerly waiting for book 3!

About the author:

You have to dream, think big and believe. Then, while you're at that - work harder than you ever have before!

Aneesa Price writes romance and lives it with her university sweetheart and husband. After having surmounted the challenges of being in a bi-racial marriage in the newly democratic South Africa, she now attributes her marital bliss to purposefully added spice and passionately resolved differences. After living in a variety of cities in South Africa, the cosmopolitan city of Johannesburg is the playground that she enjoys with her husband and two daughters.

Aneesa completed her internship in counselling psychology and went on to work first as a therapist and then in Corporate Finance in on projects and in organizational change. This diversity in experience, coupled with her understanding of the human psyche, is translated into her writing through the creation of believable, flawed characters with the innate ability to overcome adversity.

She writes to give her readers the gift of experiencing the new and fascinating, something she strives for herself when she explores new places, reads, cooks with her kids or goes picking for antiques with her husband.
She welcomes new connections so feel free to 'friend' her on facebook or follow her on twitter
