My Review: Secrets, Lies and Fireflies by Angie Fox

282 pages Released March 7,2025
 Published by Moose Island Books

Verity’s family tree has deep roots…and deadly secrets

Some families pass down antiques or china. Verity’s family? They can’t seem to pass up a good mystery. So when Verity’s dearly departed grandmother drops by unexpectedly, Verity is overjoyed—until she learns Grandma Didi is back with a chilling request tied to a cherished family heirloom.

With the help of her ghostly sidekick Frankie—who is too busy declaring her grandmother his ultimate nemesis—Verity traces a trail of clues from her beloved family home to a forgotten suffragette hideout to a secret enclave hidden in the Sugarland Library itself.

But every discovery pulls Verity deeper into danger, and some in Sugarland will stop at nothing to keep the past buried. If Verity isn’t careful, she could lose more than her family legacy—she could end up following her grandmother to the other side.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Angie Fox writes sweet, fun, action-packed mysteries. Her characters are clever and fearless, but in real life, Angie is afraid of basements, bees, and going up stairs when it is dark behind her. Let’s face it. Angie wouldn’t last five minutes in one of her books.
Angie is best known for her SOUTHERN SPIRITS™ mysteries, and for her ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER books.

5 stars!!

This book was awesome. The story got started right away, no long lead up to the best part. The whole book is interesting, you won’t have any of the lulls that happen in most books. The author keeps you interested the whole time, her books are hard to put it down
I always love the characters in this series, and each new book adds another great character
You don’t have to have read other books in the series but it definitely helps
No spoilers from me about what goes on in this book but I think you’ll enjoy this book
I was given a copy for my honest opinion

New York Times bestseller Angie Fox celebrates 5 years of the Southern Ghost Hunter series with a limited edition that includes the first three stories in the series, along with never-before-seen additional content, featuring deleted scenes, original art, an inside look at the characters, and a behind-the-scenes peek at how the series came together.

Get it before it’s gone!

Southern Spirits
When out of work graphic designer Verity Long accidentally traps a ghost on her property, she’s saddled with more than a supernatural sidekick—she gains the ability see spirits. It leads to an offer she can’t refuse from the town’s bad boy, the brother of her ex and the last man she should ever partner with.

A Ghostly Gift
Verity Long doesn't want to see ghosts, and she'd rather not let anyone know her little secret, either. But when a restless spirit stirs up trouble in her friend's resale shop, Verity and her very new, very dead gangster friend team up to learn what is really happening.

The Skeleton in the Closet
A haunted library is no place for a girl who can see ghosts, but when Verity Long stumbles on a dead body in the middle of the main reading room, she has to believe someone…even a dead someone…must have witnessed the crime.

This is such a great series, so glad to have this anniversary edition.  Deleted scenes are awesome, and loved more of the background information.
My review of Southern Spirits (book 1):  I really loved this story!!
This is more than just a ghost story, or ghost hunting!

This has ghost stories, a little bit of romance, sisterly bond, a pet skunk and and lots of humor.
To be honest, it could get a little spooky. But definitely a great change of pace for me. This got me out of my reading funk for sure!

My review of Ghostly Gift:  A quick story to fill in the gap between books.
A very quick read, but still good.
None of the big mystery and suspense that is in the full length books of this series. Not much of the comedy we normally get either.
Still recommend if you love the series.

My review of Skeleton in the Closet (book 2):  I loved this one just as much as the first book. However I think this one was way more of a mystery than book one.
Frankie (the German) is still stuck at Verity's house and he is still funny.
Verity just keeps finding herself in sticky situations, which make for a great book.
Has: mystery, humor, of course lots of ghosts and a little bit of romance

ARC Review: The Ghost of Christmas Past by Angie Fox

48280035. sy475

Release date: November 29, 2019

She needs a Christmas miracle...
Verity Long is ready to deck the halls, jingle some bells, and maybe, just maybe have a merry Christmas with her boyfriend’s stuffy family. Truly, if she doesn’t extend the proverbial olive branch to the overbearing Wydells, she’s afraid she’ll hit them over the head with it.
But when her boyfriend’s mother pulls a shocking stunt, Verity finds herself with a big decision to make. And if that’s not enough, there’s an unexpected guest at her door. It’s the ghost of the woman who helped rescue Verity’s pet skunk three years ago that very night. And now she’s there to change Verity’s life as well.
*A "between the books" holiday story you don't want to miss!

Loved this book!
I always get so wrapped up in Angie Fox's books.
Frankie was wonderful in this story, he has a heart (lol)
I really enjoyed the spin this author put on "A Christmas Carol" for this story.
A great addition to the series.

All I Want:
Enjoyed, loved Prudence's actions
The chemistry between Lord Stockton and Prudence was great. This was more of a comedy romance.

Three French Hens:
Good story, but you get the feeling you've read this story before.
I do like the ending, but I did get a little worried for Brinna for a while there.

The Fairy Godmother:
Wow, what a whirlwind! That was a crazy story. I started to figure things out right before Odel thought she had-she hadn't though.
I did enjoy this story.

Overall, I enjoyed all 3 stories very much. I have been wanting to read them for a long time,. each book has been on my wish list for awhile and I put off buying them. But I'm glad I did and could get them all in one collection to read a one time.

I have read almost all of Miss Laramie's books. Now, I was hesitant about this one, only because she has said it was like no other book she has published so far. Well, let me tell you she again has blown me away.

I can't imagine how Nash felt for the 5 years after he lost everything to a car accident. He has to make a decision, does he stay in the depths of despair or does he take the chance his brothers set up for him. Now, reading how he changed over the course of the book was something to behold. You will laugh, sigh, and most definitely shed a few tears while reading this small town adventure.

Caroline is helping out her friend for the night. Little does she know that favor will change the course of her life. Laramie sure did score big with this one. I hope she writes more stories like this. Maybe even books about some characters from this Room 143! *hint, hint*

I started reading the Mayson family stories with Until November. They have only gotten better and better over time. Until December is an excellent addition to the series.

December, daughter of Asher and November Mayson, is a shy, nerdy, 1st grade school teacher. She enjoys quiet days at home wrapped up in a good book. When she meets Gareth at her cousin Cobi's wedding, she is instantly intrigued. However, her sister calls dibs first. Will December be able to break the rules, and give Gareth a chance? Will it come between her and her sister?

Gareth is a HOT, single dad. He comes with baggage and isn't into games. He works hard to take care of his boys, and has done an excellent job. Will his past come back to haunt him? Will the Mayson sisters games drive him away?

There is only one way to find out if the hot single dad can bring out the wild side of a nerdy school teacher. Read it! You will not be disappointed! I loved the story line and I look forward to the next Until book.

The Wrong Highland by Lynsay Sands Tour & Review

A laird’s daughter kidnaps a Highlander—and loses her heart… in New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’ new historical romance

Lady Evina Maclean has heard much about Rory Buchanan’s skill as a healer. What she hasn’t heard is how good the brawny Highlander looks bathing in a waterfall. But Evina can’t afford the distraction, for her ailing father urgently needs care. Only when she’s rendered Buchanan unconscious and dragged him back to her family’s castle does the truth emerge—it’s not Rory she’s kidnapped but his brother Conran.
Other ladies try to ensnare Conran with flattery. Evina hits him over the head with the hilt of her sword to save her kin—and Conran likes the spirited redhead all the more for it. He’s learned enough from his brother to heal Evina’s father, but there are other dangers swirling around the Maclean clan. And while the beautiful, independent lady has sworn not to marry, this wrong Highlander may be just the right man for her.

Loved
I can't get enough of reading books by Lynsay Sands!!  I love her writing
This is about a woman mistaking one Buchanan brother for another.  Then things go crazy as only they do for the Buchanan clan.
Not one brother (or sister) can fall in love and get married without someone trying to kill them or their future spouse!  Which always makes for a great story.
Loved that Evina is so much like the Buchanan sister, Saidh.
Each character, from Evina's "clan" shows much growth through the story.  And then Tildy, the maid, gives Evina a beautiful, heart-filled talk.
I can't wait for more!!!
