The Vineyards of Calanetti Fun Facts

The Vineyards of Calanetti consists of 8 books by 8 authors releasing one title a month spanning July 2015 to February 2016 and kicks off online at Harlequin.com with a prequel ~ Marriage Made in Monte Calanetti

Monte Calanetti, the home for the series, is a picture-perfect village nestled amongst rolling vineyards, deep in the Tuscan countryside.

Both Monte Calanetti and the island nation of Halencia are fictional, but they’ve been written about in such detail in this series that it truly brings them to life—from standing on the perimeter of Monte Calanetti and looking down over the vineyards to rolling up in front of the palace of Halencia to tossing a coin in the fountain.

Monte Calanetti is a very old village dating back to medieval times and it has a crumbling wall surrounding it as it was once a stronghold.

One of the attractions in Monte Calanetti is Mancini’s, a very exclusive, IGF (Italian Good Food) starred restaurant on the outskirts of the village that hosts an internationally acclaimed chef, Raffaele Mancine (A Bride for the Italian Boss)

In the piazza of Monte Calanetti is a stone carve fountain of a nymph draped in a cloak holding a clamshell overhead, but this isn’t just any fountain…it has a special bit of folklore attached. (Return of the Italian Tycoon)

The historic village of Monte Calanetti has many interesting sites to visit including a kissing tree. (Return of the Italian Tycoon)
Calanetti Vineyard is a boutique vineyard which is different than larger vineyards as it produces fewer barrels of wine—less than 5,000 cases a year—which are carefully processed to the highest quality with the least amount of oxidation.
Monte Calanetti is invited to enter a bid for a royal wedding – the future king and queen of Halencia (a small Mediterranean island nation). (Return of the Italian Tycoon)

Kayla Hill has never been outside the States so a business trip to Italy is her idea of a vacation and flying in a private jet with her sexy boss is an added bonus. (Return of the Italian Tycoon)

The Vineyards of Calanetti is an editor-led series, which means our editors got to take part in the creative process. They told us who our characters are and provided a very high level view of the books and how they linked. Then the authors got to bring the characters and story to life. It definitely took a village to write this tightly knit series.
The Tuscany-based series does have quite a bit of globetrotting, from Rome to Halencia (a Mediterranean island nation) to the fashion district of Milan. And some of the characters even travel down under to Sydney. These characters are definitely on the go. There’s even a couple that travels halfway around the globe to a secret destination, but I’ll let you wonder about that one. ;-)
This was a challenging series to write as you’ll find recurring characters in future books. When people say it’s a small world, it’s very true in Calanetti. ;-)
The island nation of Halencia is famous for its spa. Angelo and Kayla get to visit and find out just what’s so special…but then again maybe it isn’t the spa that grabs their attention. ;-) (Return of the Italian Tycoon)

There’s a beautiful restaurant in Halencia. It sets on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. If you’re lucky enough to sit outside, you’ll get to enjoy the gentle perfume of wisteria hanging from the trellis as well as enjoy the stunning view…oh yes, and the water too. (Return of the Italian Tycoon)
Most of the books in the series in some fashion, involve the preparations for a royal wedding, from preparing a bid to hold the wedding in Monte Calanetti to preparing the village and the vineyard for the royal event. There’s a lot excitement for the village residents…and the writers too. Who doesn’t love a wedding?
Each book in the series can stand alone as they all come with their own HEA. But they are so much more fun to read in order and watch how the background details flow together.
The opening line in RETURN OF THE ITALIAN TYCOON is a fun one… “Can I smell you?”
Research was a big thing for this series. Subjects ranged from Italian cuisine to palaces to palazzos. There were conversations about architecture and sculptors. There were maps drawn and photos shared. It was definitely a team effort to give the series a sense of cohesiveness.
There’s a boutique hotel on the outskirts of Monte Calanetti. Hotel Villa Bellezza is a five-star establishment which was once upon a time a duke’s grand house. Though it is fictional, it soon became quite real in this writer’s mind. (Return of the Italian Tycoon)

RETURN OF THE ITALIAN TYCOON is a book that just kept going and going. Alas in order to make the max word count for the printers, there had to be lots of creative trimming. It was very hard to say goodbye to the characters.
In HIS LOST-AND-FOUND BRIDE, Logan & Lucia travel to romantic Venice where they dance at night in St. Mark’s Square.
In HIS PRINCESS OF CONVENIENCE, Antonio and Christina are given a special honeymoon by the king and queen, but the destination is a secret. Think the Mediterranean and then think halfway around the world.
In REUNITED BY A BABY SECRET, Marianna & Ryan spend a glorious day in Siena where they’re awed by the majesty of the Siena Cathedral with all of its white and green-black marble. It has the author, Michelle Douglas, putting Siena on her travel bucket list. ;-)
Would you like a date that consists of a helicopter ride to the fashion district of Milan, lunch in an open café by a canal as well as buying a brand new sports car? I know I would! Well, you’ll find that and more in THE BEST MAN AND THE WEDDING PLANNER.
