This book was awesome. The story got started right away, no long lead up to the best part. The whole book is interesting, you won’t have any of the lulls that happen in most books. The author keeps you interested the whole time, her books are hard to put it down

I always love the characters in this series, and each new book adds another great character

You don’t have to have read other books in the series but it definitely helps

No spoilers from me about what goes on in this book but I think you’ll enjoy this book

This is such a great series, so glad to have this anniversary edition.  Deleted scenes are awesome, and loved more of the background information.

My review of Southern Spirits (book 1):  I really loved this story!! 

This is more than just a ghost story, or ghost hunting!

This has ghost stories, a little bit of romance, sisterly bond, a pet skunk and and lots of humor.

To be honest, it could get a little spooky. But definitely a great change of pace for me. This got me out of my reading funk for sure!

My review of Ghostly Gift:  A quick story to fill in the gap between books.

A very quick read, but still good.

None of the big mystery and suspense that is in the full length books of this series. Not much of the comedy we normally get either.

Still recommend if you love the series.

My review of Skeleton in the Closet (book 2):  I loved this one just as much as the first book. However I think this one was way more of a mystery than book one.

Frankie (the German) is still stuck at Verity's house and he is still funny.

Verity just keeps finding herself in sticky situations, which make for a great book.

Has: mystery, humor, of course lots of ghosts and a little bit of romance

I always get so wrapped up in Angie Fox's books.

Frankie was wonderful in this story, he has a heart (lol)

I really enjoyed the spin this author put on "A Christmas Carol" for this story.

I think this one is one of the best books in the series!  

Wow!  I Every time I read one of these books, I am glued to the pages.  This one was no exception.

I think this book had even more mystery,  no way did I figure out who it was.  I mean I had a little idea, but .....

Verity is actually working 2 cases this time.  Both were extraordinary.

And then, the  little hint for the next book, oh I can not wait to read that.

I love this series with out a doubt.

You can really feel the characters, and their growth during the series.

Not quite what I was expecting, way too much emphasize on the details of all the clothes. 

All those details made it more like a magazine article with a little bit of a mystery story to read. 

I think I might have enjoyed it more if the book just focused on the story- the mystery Cookie was trying to solve.

“Feeling brave I walked over to the third trunk.  It was much larger than the other two.  I flipped open the latch without any problem.  To my amazement, this trunk was filled with clothing.  I pulled out the first item.  It was an old animal skin stole of some sort.  It even had the head of the animal still attached.  I quickly tossed it to the floor, disgusted anyone would do that to an animal and have the nerve to wear it.  Then I found a beautiful purple satin dress.  The lace around the neckline was yellow and ragged.  When new, it must have been an elegant gown.

     I held up the gown in front of me and turned to Dillon.  “How do I look?”

     “Very nice,” he replied.  “It looks like it even might fit you.”

     He continued to sort through the photos.  Then he stopped and held one photo up to the light for a better view.

     “No, this must be a mistake,” he said with a puzzled look.

     “Let me see,” I said.

     I took the cracked and faded photo from his hand.  It was the girl with the curly blonde hair.  She was older and wearing the very same dress I was holding in my hands.

     Dillon took the photo from me and flipped it over.  His face turned white as chalk.  Then he held out the back for me to see.

     “Molly Greyson,” I read aloud.

     The room began to spin.

     I dropped the dress to the floor and fell to my knees.

About the Author:

Roberta Hoffer is a retired preschool teacher from a small town in Indiana.  She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Kevin, for forty-eight years.  They raised two children, Amy and Andrew, and have one grandson, Christian.
